If a long quote of text is in my article but there are no quotation marks in the article (its separated and indented), should block quotations be used?
I think your instinct is right on. Dr. Lucas can correct me, but I am formatting those with block quotations in my article.

Yes, @sherrilledwards is correct. There are many ways to put in a block quote, but the easiest is putting the paragraph in between the <blockquote> tags.
